Political Acumen

Sadhana Bose was born in September 1971 in a remote village in the Midnapore district of West Bengal. Her father was a government school teacher. After losing her mother at the age of two, she was raised by her cousin and his wife in Calcutta (now Kolkata).

She completed her education in Kolkata and married early, dedicating the next 12 years of her life to spiritual practice. Following her divorce in 2007, she transitioned into professional life, starting as a marketing manager at a reputed NGO in Kolkata. Over the years, she went on to work with several NGOs, private firms, and corporate organizations—primarily in the field of sustainable textiles and crafts.

Political Journey

Sadhana’s entry into politics was a natural progression, rooted in her family's legacy—her aunt, the late Mrs. Ila Palchoudhuri, was a Member of Parliament from Nabadwip/Nadia. Though she joined politics later in life, she became a member of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in 2015 while working in Delhi.

In 2016, she was actively involved in the West Bengal Assembly elections, especially in her family’s constituency—Krishnagar, Nadia. She later took a break from politics to care for her ailing father.

After relocating to Thane, Maharashtra in 2019, she re-engaged with political work. In August 2022, she joined the BJP Mahila Morcha, and by 2023, she became Co-convener of the BJP Bunkar Prakosht (Weavers Cell) for Thane-Konkan. She currently serves as a member of the State Committee of the Bunkar Prakosht in Maharashtra.

Sadhana has since travelled extensively across the state, working with grassroots-level weavers in both the handloom and powerloom sectors.

Academic & Public Engagement

In 2023, she presented a paper titled "Khadi & Rural Livelihood" at a national conference on Khadi, organized by Joshi Bedekar College in Thane and MSKVIB.

Beyond Politics

In addition to her political and professional engagements, Sadhana Bose is a trained classical dancer, pianist, and equestrian. She enjoys Western classical music and is an avid reader.
